Privacy Policy

Effective October 17, 2026 · Applies to the DriveKeep app for iPhone, Apple Watch and CarPlay

DriveKeep, designed by Pauram, helps gig drivers track mileage, earnings, expenses and taxes. Your records stay on your phone and in your own iCloud account. We don't run ads, we don't track you across apps, and we don't sell your data.

What DriveKeep collects and why

Location

DriveKeep uses your location while you're on a drive to count business miles and draw your route. If you turn on Detect drives automatically, it uses your phone's motion sensor and low-power location changes to notice when you start driving, and only turns on GPS once a drive starts. Your location is also used to work out which state and city you're in, so the app can estimate state and local income tax, and to show nearby parking, restrooms, gas, EV chargers and gigs on the map. To pick your home state for taxes, DriveKeep keeps a short list on your phone of which state you were in each day for the last 30 days; it never leaves your phone.

When you search the map, what you type and the area of the map you're looking at are sent to Apple Maps to find places. Your last few searches are saved on your phone so you can repeat them, and you can clear them anytime.

Location is never used for advertising and is never sold. You can change location access anytime in the Settings app under Privacy & Security → Location Services → DriveKeep.

Motion and fitness

With drive detection on, DriveKeep reads whether your phone is in a moving vehicle. This stays on your phone.

Camera and photos

You can take or choose photos of receipts, gig earnings screens and gig offers. DriveKeep reads the text in these images on your phone using Apple's built-in text recognition. Images are never uploaded to us. Receipt photos you save are stored with your records.

If you turn on Find earnings in my screenshots, DriveKeep asks for access to your photo library and looks only at new screenshots, on your phone, to spot gig earnings screens. It shows you what it found and saves nothing until you tap Add. Other photos are skipped, and no image is ever uploaded. You can turn this off in the app, or remove photo access in the Settings app under Privacy & Security → Photos.

When you share an earnings screenshot to DriveKeep from the Share sheet, it's read the same way, on your phone, and only the amount, app, date and hours you confirm are saved.

Your records

Drives, earnings, expenses, quarterly tax payments and settings are stored on your iPhone. If you're signed in to iCloud, they're also backed up to your private iCloud database so they sync to your other devices and survive a new phone. Apple stores this data for you; we can't see it.

Parking and police reports

When you post a report (for example, ticketing, towing, police or a restroom tip), DriveKeep saves the type of report, its map location and the time to a shared iCloud database that other DriveKeep drivers can read. Reports don't include your name, Apple ID or email. iCloud attaches an anonymous, app-specific identifier so the app can show you which reports are yours. Most reports disappear on their own within 15 minutes to 6 hours; driver tips last 30 days. "Still there" and "Gone" votes are stored the same way.

Gig listings

To show nearby gigs, DriveKeep sends your city and state (for example, "Hartford, CT") to Adzuna, a job listings service. Your exact location isn't sent. When you tap Apply, the employer's or Adzuna's website opens in your browser, and their own privacy policies apply.

Airports and events

When the Airports & events map layer is on, DriveKeep asks Ticketmaster for concerts, games and shows near you. It sends a location rounded to about 1 km (2 decimal places), never your exact position. To count flights landing soon, it sends AeroDataBox only the airport's code (for example, "BDL"), nothing about you. Neither service receives your name, Apple ID or records, and DriveKeep doesn't store what they send back. When you open an event's link, Ticketmaster's own privacy policy applies.

Importing from other apps

When you choose a file in Switch to DriveKeep (Activity → Import), the file is read on your iPhone. Only the drives, earnings and expenses you choose to import are saved, to your records. The file is never uploaded.

Paying quarterly taxes

The Pay IRS and Pay state buttons open the official IRS Direct Pay or state tax website in Safari. DriveKeep never sees or handles your payment, bank account or tax login. Amounts you log as paid stay in your records.

Apple Intelligence

On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Ask DriveKeep, the Insights recap and the backup screenshot reader use Apple's on-device language model. Your questions, your numbers and the text from your screenshots are processed on your iPhone. They are not sent to us, and DriveKeep does not use Apple's cloud servers for these features.

Launch email list

Before DriveKeep is on the App Store, you can leave your email address on trydrivekeep.com to hear when it launches. We store only the address and the date, use it for that one launch email, and then delete the list. We don't add it to any other list or share it with anyone.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. The app only learns whether your subscription is active.

Notifications

Tax reminders and nearby-alert notifications are scheduled on your phone. No notification service of ours receives your data.

Services from Apple

DriveKeep uses Apple Maps for maps, directions and places, iCloud for backup and shared reports, and the App Store for purchases. Apple handles that data under Apple's Privacy Policy.

What we don't do

Keeping and deleting your data

Children

DriveKeep is meant for adults who drive for work. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Tax estimates

Tax figures in DriveKeep are estimates based on 2026 federal, state and selected local rules. They aren't tax advice. Please check with a tax professional before filing.

Changes to this policy

If we change how DriveKeep handles data, we'll update this page and the effective date above, and describe major changes in the app's release notes.
