Drives and mileage
A drive didn't record
Check that location is set to "Always" (Settings app → Privacy & Security → Location Services → DriveKeep) and that Motion & Fitness is on. Low Power Mode can delay detection. You can always add a missed trip by hand in Activity → Trips.
Why is GPS only on during drives?
DriveKeep uses the phone's motion sensor to notice driving, then turns on GPS for the drive and off once you've been parked a few minutes. This saves battery compared with apps that run GPS all day.
Which mileage rate does DriveKeep use?
The IRS standard mileage rate for the date of each drive: 72.5¢ per mile for January–June 2026 and 76¢ from July 1, 2026. You can enter your own rate in Settings → Taxes.
How do I get a mileage log for my taxes?
Settings → Tax reports. The spreadsheet (CSV) with every drive, earning and expense is free on every plan. With Pro, Create mileage log (PDF) lists the date, start and end address, purpose and miles for each drive, and the Tax Center adds a Schedule C worksheet.
How do I mark a drive as personal?
Drives DriveKeep detects on its own show up on Home under New drives: tap Business or Personal (or All business). You can change any drive later: swipe right on it in Activity → Trips, or open it and turn off Business drive. Personal drives are kept but never counted in your deduction, Schedule C or IRS mileage log.
Drive at set times? Settings → Driving → Drives outside work hours are personal, then pick your hours. Drives detected outside them start as personal.
Is mileage tracking really free?
Yes. Automatic and manual mileage tracking is free and unlimited on every plan, and you can export your records as a spreadsheet anytime. Pro adds unlimited offer checks and Ask DriveKeep, Insights, hot zones, receipt photos and the PDF tax reports.
How do I bring my miles from another app?
Export your drives as a CSV from your old app (most email it to you), save the attachment to Files, then open DriveKeep → Activity → Import → From another app and choose the file. DriveKeep shows how many business drives and miles it found, skips personal drives and anything already saved, and adds the rest. Step-by-step help for each app is on the switching page.
Taxes
How is my set-aside amount worked out?
From your profit so far this year, projected to the full year: 2026 self-employment tax, federal income tax with the standard deduction and the 20% business income deduction, your state's income tax, and local tax in New York City, Philadelphia, Detroit and Maryland counties. Settings → Tax Center shows the breakdown.
How does DriveKeep know which state I'm in?
It checks your GPS location every couple of miles while you drive or have the map open. The Live Map shows where you are right now, like "Hartford, CT".
State income tax mostly follows where you live, not where you drive, so your tax state is the state you're in on most days over the last month. If you drive into a neighboring state, the map shows something like "In New York · taxes use Connecticut" and your tax estimate doesn't change. If you move, it switches over by itself after a couple of weeks. Some states also tax money earned there by non-residents; check with a tax professional if you regularly work across a state line.
My state or city is wrong
Open Settings (the gear on Home) → Taxes → State and pick your state. For local income tax elsewhere, choose "Enter my rate" and type your city's rate.
Where do I pay quarterly taxes?
In the 30 days before each due date, Home shows a Pay this quarter card (it's always at the top of Settings → Tax Center). It says how much to send the IRS and your state, with a Pay IRS button that opens IRS Direct Pay (choose "Estimated Tax" and "1040-ES") and a button for your state's payment site. After you pay, tap I paid it: log payment so reminders and amounts stay accurate. DriveKeep never handles your payment or bank details.
How do I send everything to my tax preparer?
With Pro, open Settings → Tax reports → Create tax packet for my preparer (also in the Tax Center), then tap Send tax packet. It shares a cover note with your key numbers and estimated payments, the Schedule C worksheet, the IRS mileage log and the full spreadsheet, by email, Messages or AirDrop.
Is this tax advice?
No. DriveKeep gives estimates to help you plan. Check with a tax professional before filing.
Offers, map and reports
How do I search the map?
On the Live Map, tap the search bar and type a place or address, or tap a quick pick: Gas, Parking, Restrooms, EV chargers, Food, Coffee or Car wash. Results show as red pins and a list, nearest first. Tap one for Directions inside DriveKeep, Plan to put it on your calendar, or the phone button to call.
What does "Airports & events" on the map show?
Turn on Airports & events on the Live Map. Nearby airports show how many flights land in the next two hours, in 30-minute blocks, and when to be in the rideshare lot (ride requests usually come 20–40 minutes after planes land). Venues show tonight's concerts, games and shows and about when each one lets out. "Tonight near you" lists them nearest first, and Plan a shift puts the right time on your calendar.
How do I plan shifts and get reminders?
Open the Calendar tab and tap +. Add a shift (pick the app and the hours), a reminder, car maintenance like an oil change, a tax date or an appointment. Set it to repeat and choose when to be reminded, from "at the time" to a week before. Quarterly tax due dates are already on the calendar.
When a shift ends, DriveKeep reminds you to log your earnings. If reminders don't arrive, turn on notifications for DriveKeep in the Settings app. Settings in DriveKeep is now the gear button on Home.
What is Ask DriveKeep?
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, tap the Pauram Intelligence button (the circuit "P") on Home or in Insights and ask things like "How much did I make on DoorDash last week?", "Which app pays me best?", "How much should I set aside for taxes?" or "Is $9 for 14 miles worth it?" You can also say "Ask DriveKeep" to Siri.
Answers come from your own records, worked out on your iPhone. Free includes 3 questions a day; Pro is unlimited. If you don't see the button, turn on Apple Intelligence in the Settings app. It needs a supported iPhone.
Can DriveKeep log my earnings without typing?
Yes, three ways. Open Earnings → Log earnings without typing to set them up:
Share: screenshot your earnings in the gig app, tap the preview, tap Share, and pick DriveKeep. Check the amount and tap Save.
Back Tap: make a shortcut with "Take Screenshot" and DriveKeep's "Log Earnings", then set it as Triple Tap in Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap. Needs iOS 18 or later.
Find in screenshots: turn it on and allow photo access. When you open DriveKeep, it shows earnings screenshots it found, and you tap Add. Screenshots are read on your phone and never uploaded.
The same payout from the same app on the same day is only saved once.
How do I check offers with one tap?
In DriveKeep, tap Offer → "Check offers in one tap with Back Tap" and follow the steps. Then double-tap the back of your phone when an offer appears in your gig app. Requires iOS 18 or later.
Why don't I see other drivers' reports?
Shared reports need you to be signed in to iCloud. Without it, reports you post stay on your phone.
